Why Did You Start Your Business?

Starting your own business can be daunting—especially if you are moving from regular income. But the truth is, once you 𝘭𝘦𝘵 𝘨𝘰 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘧𝘦𝘢𝘳 and 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘪𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧 𝘵𝘰 𝘧𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘰𝘸 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘶𝘳𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘦, it will become the most 𝙚𝙢𝙥𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 and 𝙤𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙣 𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙚-𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙙𝙚𝙘𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 you ever make.

I had been working at my previous company for over 14 years. I was fiercely loyal and dedicated, and although we had our ups and downs, I truly appreciate the times I had with them as I had 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘢 𝘭𝘰𝘵. One day, something happened at the office which left me feeling extremely unhappy. I realised I needed to take a 𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘱 𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 and what I wanted my future to look like.

I've seen this quote so often on social media lately, and it was exactly where I was at that point in time. "𝙉𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙥𝙪𝙨𝙝 𝙖 𝙡𝙤𝙮𝙖𝙡 𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙩 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙣𝙤 𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙧 𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙚."

In the past, many people encouraged me to start my own business, but I was always hesitant. I didn't want to take the risk and lose the security of not getting regular income. But at the end of the day, nothing is guaranteed.

When I resigned, I was asked where I was going or what I would be doing; 𝘐 𝘴𝘢𝘪𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘐 𝘩𝘢𝘥 𝘣𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘥𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝙗𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙛𝙞𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙮 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙥𝙚𝙤𝙥𝙡𝙚—hopefully giving them the peace of mind they needed knowing that their business was in safe, capable hands.

At the time, I didn't even know that a Virtual Assistant was an actual career choice. I have just always had a 𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘰𝘳𝘨𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘴𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘥𝘰𝘯𝘦. My experiences in a variety of industries have made me adaptable and versatile. Once I started doing more research on what services my company would offer, I came across the term "Virtual Assistant" for the first time. 𝘐𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘗𝘌𝘙𝘍𝘌𝘊𝘛!

Little did I know that while I was sitting in my comfort zone and following my day to day routine all those years, too scared to take that leap, the answer had been right in front of me! If it wasn't for my unhappiness that day and the love and support from my wonderful partner, I might have been stuck in that rut for many more years to come.

All I needed was to 𝘣𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘮𝘺𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧 a little and perhaps a gentle push to take a chance. It's never too late to start something new. So take a chance; you never know what might happen.
